DAY 64
DATE: 3/5/2013
Good Morning! My name is Nancy Brubaker and I was asked to give you a devotional thought from the book of III John.
KEY VERSES:
Vs 4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
REFLECTIONS:
This chapter in John reminds me of Colossians 1:10, my life verse: That you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.
APPLICATION:
Simple, yet profound: we are to imitate Jesus! When I paint a picture, I continually look at the object I am trying to paint [imitate]. Sometimes I get it right and sometimes I make mistakes. This helps me remember that we WILL make mistakes, but our heavenly Artist gives us chance after chance to get ‘it’ right! Christians who walk in the TRUTH have nothing to hide or fear; they are so transparent! God gave us the very best He had. This teaches us to give our best to others, to be loving and generous. Your character should be above reproach.
Pride consumed Diotrephes. We must always do self-examinations, living unselfishly, sincerely, hospitably, and in Godly character. Be good stewards of talents, abilities, treasures, time and body. Our motives must be pure, living our lives such that we provoke others to do right. The responsibility of a saint is to NOT feed on negative; confront sin but never in arrogance or pride. We must live in love, agape love, and be mission-minded. What you do for a missionary, Christ gives you their blessing, too.
As the Lord and I raised my children, and any one of us became prideful, the rest of us would chime in and say, “I like me, I think I’m grand; When I get to Heaven, I’ll hold my own hand.”
Thank you for being a part of the 66-Day Challenge. Thanks for reading, and you have a blessed day!
In Christ,
Nancy
