Good Morning! My name is Quita Jones and I was asked to give you a devotional thought from the book of I Thessalonians 4 and 5.
4:8 Therefore, he who rejects this instruction, does not reject man but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit.
4:11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up just as in fact you are doing.
5:16 Be joyful always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
5:22 Avoid every kind of evil.
Paul heard the conditions in Thessalonica from Timothy. Paul wrote this letter to encourage the Thessalonians and teach them more about Christianity. He praises them, instructs them, and teaches about the Lord’s second coming.
Paul is telling us to live life knowing that God is coming back to make everything right; and knowing that fact, as a Christian, should affect how we live every day. He tells us there is a happy ending. I Thessalonians 5:9 says God didn’t appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.
As I read today it was a reminder to listen more to God’s Word daily, and have a respect for my brothers and sisters in Christ who lead me closer to Christ. I need to respect them in love because of the work they do. In I Thessalonians 4:11, encourage and build up is a command, not an option. I am so thankful for my church family that on a daily basis keeps my focus on Christ. I want to give thanks in all circumstances. I know it is God’s will for me! Stay strong in Christ and use your armor until He comes again.
Thank you for being a part of the Route 66 Challenge. Thanks for reading, and you have a blessed day.
