DAY 49

DATE:  2/18/2013

Good Morning!  My name is Debbie Payne and I was asked to give you a devotional thought from the book of Ephesians chapters 5 and 6.

KEY VERSES:

Ephesians 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles (strategies and the deceits) of the devil.

Ephesians 5:20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

REFLECTIONS:

Ephesians was written by Paul to give instructions to the people on how to walk with God.  These chapters also describe to us all the evil things that the devil wants us to do and believe so that we question or doubt our faith in God and Jesus Christ.  Always remember that God is the truth.  He wants only the best for us and He wants us to continually be in the Word so that we will be less tempted by the devil.  As Christians we are to put on the full armour to protect us from evil and to help keep us strong in the Lord.

Ephesians also gives us instructions on how we should behave as Christians in our own homes.  We need to always give thanks to God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Let each man without exception love his wife as his very own self and let the wife see that she respects and reverences her husband.  Children are to honor and obey your parents in the Lord.  Fathers are to rear their children tenderly in the training and discipline and the counsel and admonition of the Lord.

APPLICATION:

Wow!  Ephesians is full of wonderful instructions for us as Christians.  We need to turn our backs on the ways of the devil.  But we also need to be careful each and every day for the devil is always around us looking for an opportunity to deceive us.  When we let our guard down the devil is always ready to tempt us to do things that we know are against God’s will for us.  Reading the Bible, prayer and attending church on a regular basis are ways to keep the devil out of our Christian walk with God.

Giving praise and thanks to God for every spiritual blessing is a great way to stay strong in the Lord.  Being strong in your love and respect of family is a blessing for all involved and also shows God that you are following His commands.  May you also know how much God loves you and your family as you serve Him.  Being strong in the Lord is a win-win situation for your home, and know that you are honoring God as well.  Having a loving Christian home would truly be a spiritual blessing like none other.

Thank you for being a part of the Route 66 Challenge.  Thanks for reading, and you have a blessed day.

In Christ,

Debbie
