DAY 19

DATE: 1/19/2013

Good morning!  My name is Andrea Merkel.  I was asked to give you a devotional thought from the book of Psalms, chapters 1 and 51.

KEY VERSE:

Psalm 51:9-11   9  Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.  10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.  11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.

REFLECTIONS:

I picked these passages because I feel that it most applies to my life at this moment.  I feel like such a blessed soul that the Lord is willing to forgive my sins and evil ways even though I do not deserve it. The Lord has helped me throughout my walk with Him to forgive myself and leave my past behind me.  I pray often that the Lord will renew my spirit every day and give me the yearning to live by His Word and not by the path of sinners.  I’ve found that the thing that helps me the most is to attend church regularly and surround myself with fellow Christians.  By doing so, it encourages me to make the right decisions for myself and my children.

If the Lord were not willing to renew my spirit continually, my faith would grow cold and may even wither away.  I know that I can do better; I know that I have it in me.  Usually I feel like I’m not living up to God’s standards the way that I could and should be, but I also know that the Lord will forgive me and every day is a new day in Him.

APPLICATION:

Every day we fall short of the glory of God, but I know that he will forgive me and protect me as long as I have faith in him.  I also know that no matter what I do, the Lord will forgive me and hopefully tomorrow I’ll have another opportunity to serve Him.

Thank you for being a part of the Route 66 Challenge.  Thanks for reading my devotional thought, and you have a blessed day!

In Christ,

Andrea Merkel
